Hand-painted Bark Texture - Need Critique

Hey guys, Ive been working on a scene for my portfolio and I feel Ive hit a bit of a wall with this bark texture, ive been staring at it for so long I cant tell whats off about it but it doesnt feel finished.

If I could get some feedback that would be greatly appreciated!

I actually really like what you've got here, BUT: I'm a weirdo who really likes playing with 'off-kilter' materials on common objects, so I totally get that this might not be the look you're going for...

Could you post some reference photos of the type of tree bark you're trying to paint?

I cant actually find any reference for the type of bark I had in mind which was perhaps my first mistake.

Im just not sure if the contrast/colour is up to par as it doesnt stand out much to me.

Again, this may just be because its my own work and Ive been staring at it for song long.

Okay so Ive made some actual models, still open to feedback on the texture but also, how do people feel about the models? does it suit the bark Ive gone for?.
