So this was my entry for the Gameartisans.org Comicon Challenge last month. Unfortunately I ran short on time and had to submit it in an unfinished state. So I am moving my progress thread over here as I continue to work on this for my portfolio.
I'm currently refining the textures, but any critiques would be welcome.

Torch, thanks, good advice! I lengthened the arms a bit and did some adjustments to the fingers and it has made a huge improvement. He will be holding a sword eventually, so I will work more on the fingers once I pose them.
SuperFranky, I did use polypaint as a base for the skin texture, but it has gone through a lot of work in photoshop afterward.
what's the polycount of this model?
Not trying to start an argument, it's a great model, but the thought occurred to me and I found it funny.
On a more serious note, you have some texture mapping artifacts on the feathers of his left wing, especially the bottom inner feather.
Vertrucio- Hmm, perhaps, as a female myself, I am subconsciously turning this around... Or perhaps not. I don't tend to really mind ladies in boob armor as long as the scenario they are in isn't too realistic, as there's not a lot of protection there. The original Hawkman has basically He-man armor, so I was trying to get away from that without it being completely unrecognizable.
DWalker- How did you know it has been a lifetime dream of mine to have Brian Blessed posted on one of my threads?? So, thanks for that. Also thanks for pointing out the feather issue. It was one of those things I kept meaning to fix but then kept glossing over.
So, this is getting close to finished now. Please let me know if you notice anything that should be fixed before this goes into my portfolio.
