Just started on this personal project just for fun and learning.
Me (artist) + wife (developer), we have torchlight as a strong source of inspiration both for game-play and graphic style.
So starting out with some character concepts, feel free to comment and criticize anything.
The story isn't completely fleshed so I won't mention much yet, these are for a druid and an angel playable characters.

these are the three main characters that you will be able to choose from
and some random props to start establishing the world a bit.
Your warrior could need some more love I think ^^
take a look at the dota 2 style guide.. since you're tackling a top down view, right?
http://media.steampowered.com/apps/dota2/workshop/Dota2CharacterArtGuide.pdf
That warrior character is the one I spent the most time on doing many concepts,
but you are right he needs some adjusting to read better.
still a bunch of stuff to do in textures but wanted to get some feedback
as I 'm kind of starting to not see where this should go.
As for the mesh it 's at 15k tris right now with no hidden surfaces,
he has a body underneath the clothing :P and
the textures are separate for each item pretty much.
Screenshots are in 3ds with an ambient+direct with light shadows
probably the setup I 'm gonna aim for in game.
Any feedback is appreciated!
or a scar, scars are generic, but bad ass nonetheless
so taking into account what Fenyce and SaboR1996 said I tried incorporating more of his back-story to the design.
I haven't figured out the whole story yet but he is a fallen angel,
so when you guys said about tattoos and scars
I thought I could leave a mark from the fall.
So his left side has been burned by the fall and it made him
to this kinda dragon-like skin thing.
I 'm not happy with the legs but I don't know what to do,
maybe the pose is awkward?
I think I gotta go back and add some stuff to the druid too now, welp.
Any feedback is very welcome once more!
and loving the changes of the character art. looking sweet.
as an alternate concept for the druid and thought I d upload.
I realy appreciate your chars!
which engine you using to make this game?
Actually I haven't even gotten anything in an engine yet, I m working on some portfolio
pieces and preferred to create other people's concepts, since I m not that good at it.
So any screenshots are either from 3ds max or Marmoset, although in time I will probably
use Unity as it is the engine I am fairly accustomed to.
Good luck
