[3ds Max] wrong position when importing into dota

I got another problem when importing my model into dota. I've had the problem a bit longer than a day now and it's getting pretty annoying.
The item I'm trying to import always gets the wrong position when imported into dota (see picture at the bottom)

I've looked around on various forums and tried all the solutions I can find.
My workflow when exporting from max is:
- setting pivot to 0,0,0
- resetting x-form
- skin and bind to the correct bone
- select bone and the weapon
- export selected as .fbx

I've also tried different versions of .fbx when exporting. This same workflow has worked for all other items I've made earlier so I don't know why this isn't working now. Anyone got a clue?

    nobody knows any way to solve this?

    I've also tried using 3ds max 2012 with SMD importer to see if it makes any difference, it didn't..

    That is the workflow i follow... and it should work. Maybe the problem is that u don't collapse all after reseting the xForm.

    - setting pivot to 0,0,0
    - resetting x-form
    ...
    - COLLAPSE ALL
    ...
    - skin and bind to the correct bone
    - select bone and the weapon
    - export selected as .fbx

    Or maybe the way your select the weapon and the bone (I do in the "H" panel of objects).
