So I want to add a toon style character in to the UDK engine and animate it. However this toon character does not have perfectly spherical eyes rather it has flat eyes. Which I could animate in a modeling program with the help of lattices or FFD boxes, but that does not transfer to UDK. Or I can animate it my animating the texture, which also does not transfer well. Any ideas on how to implement them, and allow me the ability to move the pupils.

Moving Eyes by Animated Textures
At the studio I currently work at, we put cartoony eyes on planes. The face is painted with eyes closed, then the eye planes float in front without the eyelids, it's just the eyes framed by eyelashes. The animators typically squash the eye planes downward in 1-2 frames to simulate blinking.
