Hey guys.
Remember my little street
cartoony level into CryEngine ? If no go check it out.
I didn't update it as I'm also making a building for an assignment for FuturePoly 3D online modeling training.
So here's a building mostly made of windows. It's a real existing building from Hamburg, Germany and it was a chocolate factory in the past.
Here is some pictures from google map
And this is where I'm currently at:
And into the Engine
What needs to be done :
- Some more modeling to break some shape, place when it's a bit flat. The right tunnel need some work too. The little warehouse on the left side need some more work too.
- Polish the texture of the brick, color variations, speculaire and roughness map. I'll go the PBR way. As I'll more than probably take a sub in May.
- Make a trim texture
- Make the glass texture and setup the reflection into CryEngine
- Do the Lighting
- And some more polish
This building was an assignment but I like it and want to take it to the level of a portfolio piece. for this I need to bring some life in it and actually make this big windows a story. A I don't want it to be just a bunch of windows and bricks.

The bricks are a bit too large; each of the steps is (roughly) two bricks tall.
Don't forget the shrubberies in front of the building; they'll add some color and break up the harsh lines.
You're missing the windows above the tunnel. You are also missing the two extrusions beside the second level central windows, and the drain pipes beside the tunnel and the right-most building.
Weathering the bricks (once you get there) will help break up the straight lines. Take careful note of the black bricks on the left & right street-level walls. Also note the wear on the bricks forming the bottom step.
