I am sculpting this very muscular man for one of my project at school. For now it's just a study on the muscles of the body, but the final result will be a warrior.

I didn't work on the hands or the feet yet, I will do that soon though.

Any critics / advice / comments are welcome! : )

I would double check proportions before moving to sculpting musculature next time. Just from eye balling it the torso is a too big and a bit wide, the legs are short, and the head is a bit small. Also be careful of the sharpness of the muscles. There is a lot of fat and skin that lays on top of the muscles that softens things quite a bit.

Make sure your source ref is accurate if you use any, and if you dont, make sure you use ref.

Iliac crest is a little too low and it isn't supposed to make a bulge like that as far as my anatomy knowledge goes. It rather constitutes the base of the form created by external oblique.

Overall, I agree that you need better reference or need to stick to your reference to a higher degree.

For attaching videos: upload your video to youtube and paste the youtube link as text. The forum takes care of the rest. The thing you paste should look like:

Things are off to a great start :) keep it up.

There are a few proportional issues to address here. If you follow the standard 8 head canon then you should have 1 head from the chin to the nipples, and the nipples to the crotch, and so on. I would worry about those things before moving on to REALLY working on the muscles. Also your ribs could be better handled, the curve back upward near the front of the body, and with a guy this buff would be covered a lot more by the serratus and obliques. Really its just a lot of small tweaks to insertion points on muscles and defining proportions and volumes better.

Thanks for all the feedback so fast.

I need to double-check in detail everything you guys wrote, but I really noticed that the head looks quite small, especially in the side screen shot I think.
I knew about the 8 heads tall, but I didn't check if it was actually correct.

EDIT : I re-did the 8 head height in an orthographic view and the results are really different : /

It is almost 8 perfect heads tall, but it still looks a bit weird. Ribtibs said that I should have 1 head from the chin to the nipples and 2 ( I guess ) more from the nipples to the crotch. This is definitely off.

As for my reference, I used a lot of photos on Google for the muscles of the back, the arms and the chest / abdominal, but my main references are here :

be careful about using 3d art as anatomical reference, youll just be repeating the mistakes in them and learn wrong, which will be difficult to unlearn..

also take in to consideration the perspective distortion of your reference.

I would take a look at this http://grassetti.wordpress.com/ecorche-statue/. That should help you understand the muscles and how they attach in to the skeleton. Also I frequently look at scan images while I am working. Here is a blog with tons of free images: http://www.ten24.info/?page_id=31

Here is a specific image to help out. You can see that even though he is very muscular there isn't a whole lot of definition. Most of the forms are pretty soft.
