Wireframe Render and Light Issue

Hello everyone I have a small problem with my project and I need help. For some reason I can't render my model as a wireframe, I don't know why but it's just not working for me, I've tried to do it on maya 2013 and 2014 and no results. Also I want to know how to fix a small light problem. I have a small dome shape around my model with 3 area lights and I just want to know how I can make my lights soft around the dome shape, the lights work on my model but it looks bad on the background.

To soften the lighting you need to increase the distance between the min and max cone angle on your lights.
