Do you need to do it with zbrush? It would be easier to just create some straight lines in a classic modeling package and then just assign some vertical noise or a wave deformer to it.
No, I don t need to use zbrush, but I thought that I can use projection mapping on it... It does not work. Do you know how can I do this using nurbs in 3ds max?

Otherwise you could draw an alpha map (height map) in PS and drag it onto the surface in ZBRUSh.
Or you just use the painted height map for converting it into a normal map (with ndo2 f.e).
