[CryENGINE 3] Synthesis project - Video Game

UPDATE [28/04/2014]:

I've been reworking on the general aspect of the project. I also modified a lot of old textures/assets to apply new theories I learned. I'm also satisfied with how the project looks like. The next step would be to finish the tower, which I've postponed for way too long, and also add a few props on the rocky alley (I thought about a chest and maybe some of those wooden/black metal torch). The project ends in a week and at this point, every bit of feedback is useful. I want this project to rock, so feel free to leave a comment, even if you're not sure it's going to be useful. MASSIVE UPDATE [21/04/2014]:

The project has been modificated a lot since last month. A lot of work have been put through it and I'm rather satisfied with the current result. The due date is in a week and a half and there's still a lot of things to do, but I thought I'd share where I am:

UPDATE [23/03/2014]:

So I've been working quite a lot on the project this week. The tower is started but not even close to finished so I don't have a W.I.P. (yet!). I also tried to fix part of the contrast problem, which is better now I believe. But then again I'm not done tweaking this part yet, which will come in the next few weeks. Here's a picture of the project at the moment:

I'm planning on reworking the birch today (remodel the tree itself and do a much better texture than the one it have right now) and then I'll move on the tower again.

I've been following a college formation to be a 3D artist for almost 3 years now. This is basically my last session here and to have our degree we have to produce a project of our choice under a category (Film, Game, Arch-viz, Animation). We also need to produce everything by ourselves (which is logic bu anyway).

Obviously I chose game and for that, I need you guys feedback. I've seen a lot of incredible, real-time projects and your expertise would be greatly appreciated. The preprod is done and the production is well on its way as the project must be handed in the beginning of may so without further ado, here's what my project is about.

The project is basically a contemplative game (same type as Dear Esther) where you have to move from Point A to B without any kind of complex gameplay. However I plan to use this project for my portfolio and my reel, so this is the orientation I try to give it more than anything else, really. The setup is based on medieval-fantasy with a lot of celtic elements. The game start in a forest-like environment (Part I), then goes into a more cliff-like place (Part II) to finally end up in an architectural tower, which the player will then climb to get a final landscape of the game (Part III). As for the ambiance, I'd like to have something like Vergen in Witcher II or Darksider II in the forest.

So as you can see, there's still a lot of work to do. Here's what I have planned as my next few steps:

• I'm going to make a waterfall where the bridge is
• The material for the bridge is one taken from CryENGINE for now. I'm going to give it a proper material in the future
• Add various architectural props around the map based on celtic culture (I have a few ideas, thought about adding some Turoe Stones and hand-made sculptures in rock and metal)
• Add some vines in the forest area and on the tower
• Unwrap and give a proper material for the tower, which is pitiful right now
• Work the mountains area to give them a more majestic look. Also, textures and materials needs a lot of work there.

I was also wondering if you can do volumetric lights in CE3? I'd like to add some volumetric effects in the forest, as it'd add a lot of depth.

So beside this, I am open to every possible tips about CryENGINE 3, my objects and pretty much everything that is done or could be done. I'll be updating this thread every few days when enough has been done so you guys can see the project progression.
