Trying to do some decent design for unmanned mech inspired by flea. Still thinking how should i better do it, any ideas or crits on design will be much appreciated and helpful
Hard to visualise but i'd drop the thruster, it's ruining the silhouette. Could consider making the "shoulders" larger to give it a bull like front. Seems like a cool idea, its just a bit hard to read.
Straighter forelegs in the initial design were better. Could thin them down or have thickness variation, your sketch is hard to read because it go so many parts in it, the blockout is better because you can focus on the big shapes. What's your target style? Are you going for Elysium / Oblivion style or something more low tech like terminator?
I'd lengthen the rear legs while shortening the front legs. Stylistically, I'd probably slope the thorax (mid section) up from the front to the rear, lowering the head and giving it a more aggressive feel.
Also, shift the rear legs attachment point forward to right behind the mid-leg's, shorten the thorax, and enlarge the abdomen, giving it a more bulbous appearance.
Looking good.
How big is it supposed to be and will it jump like a flea?
Cause that seems like an impractical way of transportation for a larger vehicle even it not manned. (Though potentially very cool. )
So depending on that answer it makes sense to go closer to an actual flea design wise or not.
Noren, thanks, i plan to make it smaller than 1 meter tall, unmanned, jumping like flea, running and walking.
I made a block out of it, crits on design are much welcomed:
Looks good, design wise those front legs need different luminance from the other legs, the front of the flea is getting all jumbled up from all the visual noise. You could also do with a face of sorts in the middle, again can be done with luminance rather than geo. Looking cool though.

What do you think?
