I have been working on a mech for a school project. We were given 3 days to build the high poly, and this is what I have completed. I still plan on doing some more touch up work. Any crits are welcome.
Awesome work! I really love it! Did you use 3ds Max to create the model? If it can be sculpt in Zbrush, to add some details, it would be even more excellent!
The whole thing was modeled in 3ds Max, but the high poly is due at the end of class today, so I dont have much time left to do touch-ups. I will be starting the low-poly today. The deadline for the finished low-poly is monday 3/17.
There's quite a lot of details missing, but since you just don't have enough time, i would say that it's still pretty good overall. Would like to see the wires for better judgment on the model itself. Anyway, good work so far, keep it up.
Thank you everyone for the "compliments" but today I'll be starting the low-poly. So as I get some progress on that, I will make sure to post some updates.
Here is an update of my low-poly. I have done a test bake for my normal map and AO, and brought it into UDK, I still have fixes that need to be done but nothing to major. Any tips and crits are welcome.
The proportions of your version do not look as right
The main turret is a around 35% bigger on the concept, and that makes yours look less appealing. the mech really needs that oversized gun to bring him back in visual balance
And the front bumper plate that looks like a face has a pretty different form in the original. Its a lot sharper and less broad, his looks a lot more like a face
