I've decided to start a new scene to push my modeling and texturing skills. I've decided to go with a sort of sci-fi/modern twist to the scene.
Here is what I have so far.
At the moment I'm finding it hard to find references to push further the sci-fi feel. If anyone has any references or feedback please feel free to comment here.

There is a lot of Sci-Fi environment concepts out there as well as a lot of Sci-Fi games that you can draw some more inspiration from.
As far as seeing models and textures to crit, well, from the view that you have provided, its a little difficult to see. If you can provide more detailed shots, that would help in providing an accurate crit.
Other than that, this scene has some serious potential to be awesomesauce for the portfolio. I saw take what has been said and really grasp it if you are selling the modern feel with a sci fi fusion. I think its an awesome theme that is unique enough to stand out, as a lot of people right now are just diving head first into that everything is metal and much bigger in the future, style sci fi.
Thanks again for the feedback.
Here is a quick mockup of the sci-fi building, it still has alot of work to do, but I like the general direction it is going.
What's on the ground though? Is that a wet part? It's very bumpy and some angles make it look like wet stones or something.
I think one thing you nailed is those signs as far as design and look, it's great.
I know this is early so you prolly don't even need crits too much yet but just keep going and do what you like because you have a good eye.
Blade runner I have on dvd so I took quite a bit of screenshots from that movie. At the moment it still looks very modern but once I finish the buildings and work on smaller props I think I can boost the sci-fi look to the scene.

I love that picture Yeah I could push the neons further. I'm still undecided if I want to have rain or not. Thanks for your comment!
Here is a small update nothing much has changed, I've tweaked most of the materials and messed around a little more with the TOD.
Well I guess this gives me the opportunity to take what I've learnt from this project and push myself even further on my next one.
Thanks everyone for their comments.
Cheers,
Kieran
Well, good luck on the next one!
