Hello Polycount,
This is my first post/thread in here. I'm currently working on a speedy that turned out into something a little more ambitious.
I'm making a sculpt of Hellboy, and I was more aiming to frame his look from the comic book though, but in the end it probably won't have too much in common with the character from the comicbook.
Here are some ref pictures:
1st picture is art by Ron Chan, and the second one is of course by Mike Mignola.
This is what I have after a couple hours work:
I feel like the front view is quite boring.
I still have to work on his hair and beard, and I plan to add the fire crown and sketch his jacket.
C&C very welcome!

Changed his expression and tweaked the ears to pop out a bit, I prefer it that way, started working on facial hair, and added a basic crown to get the feel already, in the end I wanna make a crown of thorns.
I don't feel like I master hair so if you know a good technique, feel free to share. I'd appreciate it!
I'm not worrying about muscles of his neck/upperbody part for now.
I plan to work his skin more stone like, I don't like the soft skin he has in the movies etc. In the comics they suggest a rough skin, which I find logical.
It would be awesome if you could stick to the hard surface look of his features from the comics than go for the smooth organic look from the movies, though that is just my preference to that style.
Slowly getting there.
Thx for the replies guys, but I kinda like him sad, after all Hellboy is destined to destroy the earth, but he still kind of likes it around here, I feel like it's appropriate that he would feel confused when he's about to destroy what he loves.
