When can one be called a 3D artist?
I have started into the 3D industry couple years back and since then i have been doing some props and such and i am currently helping out on a game project as an environment artist but i haven't yet created a "real" project, so i keep asking myself whether or not can i be considered a "true" 3D game environmet artist.
I would like to know what do you guys think about this and if i am the only one asking this question.

Or any other mesh, you're a 3D Artist.
Just make art.
Pretty much this.
The answer to your question is more philosophical than it is technical and I don't want to bore anyone so yea.......
So if i just make art im considered an artist right? yeh i think you are right, not labeling, just being someone who creates boxes, give shape to them and put some images into it.
All professions can ask that same thing ... When can I call myself a programmer? A plumber? A multimedia internet consultant?
Just do what you do and don't worry about labels or titles because, ultimately, it's all subjective anyway.
A miserable little pile of secrets!
I make a vertex, then call it done.
Mutha fuck tha police.
Being able to make a mark on a piece of paper with a pen doesn't make you an illustrator.
or at least not a very good one
Hopefully not me.
