long time 3d artist here, trying to break into the gaming biz... it's tough
About a year ago, i decided to start working on my low poly portfolio. I was interested in baking high poly objects and couldn't get around the normal map issues. I have spent a great deal of time learning about this technique, and in turn dug a lot into code, shaders and engines.
I'm currently working mostly with webGL. I would like to share some results of a shader and maxscript exporter for three.js.
I'm still somewhat surprised that there are so many hacks and issues with normal maps. I'm pretty happy with these results:
