Your target tris should be closer to 10,000, and even higher if you can like 20,000 tris. If this is a personal project, push more triangles, unless this is meant for mobile or a really low-spec game.
I would be careful displaying your model against a black background. Right now the form in the shadows is getting lost. I would go with something lighter so I could read the silhouette of the overall model.

yes, i googled after realtime - polycount and know that's normal to model with a lot of more tris, but it was for a little game at university and our "lead artist" wanted a maximum of 1000 tris. so he got it (nearly)
