I am thinking of getting a student license for Adobe Flash but from what I gather its not as intuitive as Adobe Flash cs3 for 2d animations. Is there a way one can still buy the older versions?
Also, if I get the student version of Adobe, can it be used for commercial purposes. From the research I have done so far, u can only use student version for commercial stuff in the US.I am located in the UK.

Read the license when you install it. Every student license I've seen prohibits commercial use.

I doubt Abode sells older versions, but you could look around the Adobe site. Beware buying an older one on the web, as Adobe may not let you license it properly when you go to install and run it.

Like Photoshop for example, you can still buy CS6 for the full price instead of paying the monthly fee for CC, but you can't legally buy anything older.

I have educational versions of Flash and Photoshop and they do permit commercial use.

The only difference between full and student/teacher seems to be the pricing.

Hmm...I had a conversation with one of their sales agents. At first,he said the student version can't be used for commercial purposes. When I mentioned I read on their forums on an old thread that the student version can be used for commercial stuff in the US.He said he will get back to me,and later said it's fine and can be used for commercial purposes with a link to Adobe Flash for students and teachers for 142 pounds.
I then asked if if he could provide me with a link to where it is stipulated that u can use the student version for commercial purposes on the official website. He said there isn't anywhere on the website but I shouldn't worry that it can be used for commercial stuffs.

I might look into Toonboom or tvpaint or better yet just go with good old Pen and paper.

@ Bartalon. That's good to know. Is this for only students all over the world or is limited to the US only?

I'm not sure. There is an eligibility section in the FAQ I posted. Checking there is probably your best bet :)
