Hi all,
A first post for our Third year University project.
For clarity on what this project is about, the basic premise is that an office worker has fallen asleep while working late at at his job for the company 'Insectas' which specialises in genetic engineering. He wakes up to find that an emergency evacuation is occurring and although confused upon waking begins to run for his life when he finds out giant hornets are on the loose after a breakout in the laboratory. The idea is supposed to be very tongue in cheek and not to be taken very seriously though we are aiming for a semi-realistic art-style similar to that of mirrors edge and Timesplitters.
The focus of the project is really to try and show off our environment skills and as such we have several environments including office, lounge, canteen, atrium and laboratory areas in an early futuristic setting as we are focusing on hard surface.
We are aiming to create a cinematic trailer of this character running away from the large mutated hornets, though the idea of making it playable is also a possibility as the only real difference needed would be collision on the environment meshes, more obstacles and a hit-box representing the hornets that would follow the player.
This is the trailer we created for the alpha stage of the project (Around 1 week old now)

Thanks for any feedback given
More WIP shots and trailers to follow.

More effects to come
Room leading to the atrium
Office update
Vent crawling idea inspired so the whole trailer is not only running and avoiding obstacles
Might put in other vent paths so it's less linear for choosing where to go
Hornet update- added some blood to make it look as though there was a slaughter
To make the hornet feel more mutated I was thinking that our idea could be similar to Resistance where there is some mechanical life support.
Alans creates fires and smoke to make the lab feel more chaotic, added Alans carriers for transporting crates and goods to different places.
Alans Vending machines update
Alans documents and folders to make Nicks shelves feel less empty. The documents may also become an obstacle the player has to jump over and avoid later on.
Coffee cups and reports on desks
Bushes in the office area so it's not all concrete and metal.
Trees to complement the green atrium Nick envisioned
Directional signs
Vents can now be connected so there can be other paths the player can take to escape from whats lurking behind him.
