You might just be hiding it when you show us on polycount, but I think your life could be hella easier if you did a block model of the whole gun to get your proportions right before you go through the efforts of high polying. What you have looks good so far, I just imagine it will be tough to keep adding on like that without a base model to gauge the size. Keep iut up, interested to see how this looks when its finished!
The guns with that under barrel bayonet aren't technically AKs, they are the Type 56 (Chinese AK clone that was standard issue for their military for many years). Not that it really matters :P
They also have a grove in the wood on the hand guard for the blade to sit in rather than it just resting on top like you have it.
Thank u guy's. I am agree with u guys that block model ads extra speed in your workflow so i Decide to complete ak part first so i use Egyptian Maadi AK-47 and here is my W.I.P (still working on some pinches n details).
I am done for today .Finalizing High Poly model. Will try some rendering again of high poly with proper texture and share some more angels so for now moving on to low poly version.
The render looks really sweet, but there are many inaccuracies in the AK itself, unless you say its a chinese replica that dosnt take things so seriously : P
the whole contouring is off, and most of the parts are not accurate or are missing things. You should try looking closer at references, its the most common small arm in the world and people know how it looks, so you have to be extra careful with such a subject
Some examples: The proportions of the reciever, of the trigger guard, the magazine ,
the holes in the wood grip, the front metal belt connection is very rectangular instead of rounded, the round bolt is missing on the fire selector, the ejection on the back of the reciever is missing completely, the grip has a kinda strange form but it looks custom so alright, just havent seen that one, the stamp over the magazine is
more like a rounded rectangle instead of a pill-shape , the lever is very small and looks strange and I would also check the front parts, well just do a general check over everything at best. Do you know which AK you are modeling ?
I did crop a couple screens of one of the best proportioned aks I know, guy takes accuracy very seriously, (credits to Stoy) its a 74 however (the one with the drum a 104)
The elysium one is probably a Type 56, and like half of your refs seem to show that one aswell
Hey,
Thank you for your critics and Sorry for late reply
After your critics i figured out the flaws u pointed out and i already started working on that.
I started with AKM but after that i mixed up with other Types of AK and it get messed up.
I didn't research on types of AK but now i research about AK So now i take Soviet AKM
If you are opting for a Soviet AKM (or Polish - early version is more or less the same thing), the one on wikipedia doesn't have an original furniture - it's supposed to be laminated wood, not plain wood.

If you want to be thorough, here's one of the most detailed sources on the subject:
http://www.theakforum.net/forums/29-russian/14801-soviet-akm-images-1960-1977-a.html
It shows quite a lot of details and the differences that depend on year of production and factory.
