I'm just curious, does marmoset have a file size limit? I have a really high poly model I'd love to just toss on in there and see what it can do, but it keeps crashing.
it was a film asset used, and I don't have renderman on my pc, so I'd love to see if I can just quickly pop it into marmoset. I couldn't find any notes of limits or anything, so I'm asking.
I've gotten 1.9 million tris in Marmoset 2 with no issues. I think I remember reading about people getting to 3 million before getting lag, obviously depending on your PC.

Try re-exporting the file or using FBX instead.
Interesting, I'll try both out and report back. Thanks!
Tb2 has a bug for some users where loading highpoly stuff will cause tb2 to freeze. If you leave it long enough your model will load.
Yes, and unfortuantely we still can't track down the cause of this. =(
It seems like most people do not have the problem however and depending on your hardware, really mostly your video card you can get upwards of 20 million triangles loaded in, or perhaps even more, but with really high triangle counts dynamic lights become very expensive. I know Lee (gir) had about 50 million in at one point on his Titan before it crashed. So no, there is no built in triangle/file size limit.
On more moderate video cards, like a 560ti or something, you can expect to load 1-3 million or so and still have good performance. You can load even more, but performance may start to suffer. I used to have a 560ti, and just got a 770 and performance is way better for me.
