VFX is one of our sister industries, and a lot of there problems are really relevant to ours, lots of studio closings, subsidies from different cities and countries cause people to move around a lot, etc. It's definitely worth a watch.

In construction, there are definitely plans made and generally everyone tries to stick to the plan.
But, if the client wants you to change something, it's an extra. A price for the extra is agreed upon. And before you change anything, someone with authority has to sign off on the change. Without a signature on the print, it shouldn't be done.
These extras can be priced at whatever the contractor and client agree to and can be profitable for the contractor. Some clients will push for discounts, of course.
So, the VFX industry has problems with contracts that the construction industry generally does not have.
Same didn't even know that had happened until watching this. Sounds like its about time for more fair treatment of 3d artists in general. Total lack of respect when they cut him off and the director thanking pretty much everyone but the VFX team..... yeah time for change.

Sounds more similar to the work for hire game studios that made up the middle. The VFX houses weren't approaching studios to make their own movies.
