HII! I'm gonna post here my work for the Arenanet internship art test.
Hope you enjoy it!
Zbrush screens
Here's some work on the fur and neck part
I am a big fan of the stag armor of Guld Wars 2 and at first I modeled the horns with some details on them but then looking closer to the concept I saw that the horns are smooth like they are made of metal so I opted for the smooth ones
For the fur I tried a new approach, using meshes underneath to have a better life while baking and cutting out the alpha map.
Some dolyak Fur ^u^
a new update soon with the lowpoly version
Replies
1024x1024 diffuse/alpha for now and nearly 7500 tris as requested
Yup the fur is sculpted on and the hard surface are made in zbrush with a custom brush and some work on it
Thanks Torch and chudork!
Hope you can add more detail to the back areas. Looks a bit plain.
@Prism: you mean the sculpt or the lowpoly? THe sculpt is made with one of my custom curve brush and some work on it.
@Wishie: you're right, I'll see if I can add more details on the back
I think DWalker is right, it looks like you've used a fairly strong ambient occlution map and darkened/saturdated her skin with it, might be better to ease off that a little bit.
You've done REALLY well with that poly limit and map size!
but i also feel it is to clean, there is no battle damage. youve done a great job with everything but giving that little details like scratches in the leather and mud and dirt on the boots and even on her little cloth i think would add so much character to the piece I also feel her skin is to clean as well
I really hope this helps its a very cool piece for sure
it would look a lot better with some more wear and tear, but nc soft´s style is actually super clean, so i don´t know if it would be smart to add that.
her underwear also looks a bit too modern/elegant. i´d maby redo that for something more rural. and the back yeah.
already looking pretty great though.
I had copied the face from my norn character, it's true that she's not a canonical beauty though XD Could be that I've put in it too much of my personal style but I like it as it is right now ^^' maybe because I'm attached to my gw2 character, also I don't think I would have time to change it
@Cglewis & Goeddy: yeah more details would surely give more character to the whole character but actually as Goeddy pointed out this is for Arenanet and their armors are always really clean without scratches or things like that, like the armor has just been forged and polished so it's wise for me to stick to the concept and the game style, I'm adding some metal details with the specular to give in some imperfections but I can't push it to be riuned by battle I think.
you know the chick in the concept looks like she is 2 meters tall and your chick looks like 1,60 but has artificialy stretched legs.
its mainly the facial stuff, i think tweaking the proportions of the facial features in the low-poly should do the job.
i don´t know if you want to change that, but i think this would be the main criticism cause everything else looks well executed.
Thanks for the crits anyway!
Also I tried some poses and refined the lighting to something that I think I can use for the final shots, hope you like it! And as always all the crits and comments are welcome! You're helping me a lot that way:3
I'd like to know what you guys think about it now with the new proportions and the pose
Finished the final images, hope you like it!^^
Tell me what you think about them
I'm gonna send them all soon

Leather doesn't read as leather. All you have is brown.
Maybe add a shadow under her feet to place her? Looks awesome. Good luck!
@kmactastic: thanks a lot for the encouragement ...."unfortunately" I've sent them yesterday since I wasn't receiving any comment XD But maybe I'll try the shadow anyway even if I can't change the images I've sent
Thanks
Thanks
It's rendered in Marmoset toolbag 2
