Hey,
I've recently been playing Dishonored and Star Wars MMO and I really like the texture style they have. I've attached an image to better explain what i mean.
The bit I particularly like is how they use many colours to make up the overall colour.
so the greyish metal texture on the mine cart prop is actually made up of purples, greens and yellows when viewed more closely.
so, could anyone point me to a tutorial of how to achieve these sorts of results?
Traditional art technique tutorials will work too i guess.
I've tried searching the net but I don't even know what this technique would be called.
I know studio Ghibli also use similar stuff in their environments but searches based on that revealed nothing.
or if anyone can offer tips or tricks on how to balance the colours without the result looking like a muddy mess...
any help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers
