Help with Ref

Hey everybody,

I saw this picture of a Saw while exploring the internet and really want to model it but can not find any ref for it besides this one image.



I have tried Google image search and what not but still cant find the name of this machine. I was wonder by any chance do any of you know what type of machine this is and where i can find more ref ?

i worked at a sawmill for several years before getting into the games industry, and while i know exactly what this is,, i never commited the actual name to my memory. it is the first saw that cuts long logs into managable lengths before they enter the mill. they go from here thru the debarker, then are split, some go to the chip n saw, and some to the dual bandsaw, then to the gang saw, then resaw, to unscrambler to the sorter, to the dropsorter,

the one we used was on a hydrolic arm that moved horizontal in a slicing motion, to where this one is on a choping arm.

one problem you get with stuff like this, is most sawmills are not purchased in kits they are built so almost every mill will have a different setup. so odds are finding that exact saw setup in another mill could be slim.

looking on net it could be whats refered to as a head saw. now that i think about it i believe we called ours the chopsaw (which would even make more sense if it used the chop motion as the one in your pic!)

Finally, all that time at the sawmill paid off!

It seems like a pretty simple setup, an engine drives the blade via a belt, no gearing involved.
