For your first sale, you get 100% of the money, but for any sale after that, you need to purchase CGTrader credits to re-sell the model. On more expensive models, this system works pretty nicely if there is demand for your assets, but if you aren't getting too many hits then I don't think it'll be worth it. Good luck!
After realizing I hated the idea of relocating often I stopped wanting into the main industry so I learned blender just to sell stuff on the unity asset store, doing pretty well monthly
frell - Got a link to the type of stuff you're selling?
No can do, I keep my work profiles and my 'Frell' profiles separate since I don't have the patience to control my own PR, and I'm not very well liked around here because I'm an ass online
But generally what I do is look for holes in the store where things are lacking and make them, I don't specialize in anything. But I've been doing this since Nov 2012 and the store was still relatively young.
But many people request more assets or ask for exclusive freelance work after buying something they like
I dumped all my models on turbosquid when I switched careers and I'm earning a reasonable amount of extra cash per month even from the awful royalty %s

Yep, made that on the bodybuilding forums as a joke lol, even says Frell in the bottom left which I just said was a non work alias. Why would I spend more than 2 minutes knocking off a meme (feel guy) lol.
And what is even the point of stalking me? It wasn't a challenge
But back to the actual question I have the most luck with vehicles and a few modular environment packs but those are a little tough to make so I only have two. Packs are the way to go though, people love them
To be honest, the search started out as an attempt to find out about some nice Unity plugins/assets that might help me out on my own Unity project that I've been busy with lately.
I generally support Polycounters' work by buying whatever stuff they have to sell and I usually end up with something great in my hands. Also voted up your game on greenlight, looks pretty cool.

Is there ever a problem with unit differences? For example if I model, rig and skin a character in centimeters and a buyer wants to use it with another character done by someone else in inches? They wouldn't match.

Granted i only put like 2 things on there, and don't keep up appearances.
