JOB TITLE: Production Engineers (Technical Director)

REPORTS TO: Pipeline Supervisor

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Arc Productions, a Canadian based CG animation and visual effects facility located in downtown Toronto is looking for a Visual Effects Producer to join our team. With over 200 artists and technical directors and the most up to date resources available, we bring the vision to both major Hollywood studios and independent producers to life in a wide array of formats: theatrical features, television, DVDs, shorts and game cinematics.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Production Engineer provides technical support for the studio toolset and workflow relating to the back end of the production pipeline, specifically Lighting/Compositing, Surfacing, and FX.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide direct technical support to artists and assist in troubleshooting asset and shot creation
· Collaborate with the Pipeline Supervisor and other Production Engineers
· Contribute to the design and development of the Surfacing, Lighting/Compositing, FX and rendering areas of the studio’s production pipeline
· Collaborate with Pipeline Supervisor and other Production Engineers to Establish clear methods for testing and troubleshooting.
· Provide clear and concise documentation for tools and workflow
· Work with all disciplines to develop best practices for the studio’s inter-departmental workflow
· Acquire and maintain up-to-date knowledge in relevant fields, proactively researching and investigating new technologies and methodologies

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
· At least 3+ years of CG experience (Feature Film experience preferred)
· Basic compositing skills
· Experience with and proven working knowledge of the following:
· Maya, Renderman and/or Mentalray, Nuke and/or Fusion
· 2-4 years of practical experience with various scripting languages, including Python, Mel, and CShell, (C/C++ an asset but not required)
· Familiarity with object oriented design and implementation
· Subversion, CVS, or other revision control system
· Excellent trouble-shooting skills
· Experience designing user interfaces using either WxPython or Qt
· Strong communication skills
· Superior time-management and prioritization skills
· Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
· Flexible and adaptable to change

Preferred Experience
· Bsc in Computer science, Computer Engineering or related field
· Experience with both Windows and Unix environments
· C/++
