Mari is a good tool to actually texture it once UVs are done.

hp texturing/uving is quite possible up to a certain point. smoothing the uv's is very crucial because they are under a lot of stress when turbosmoothed.
headus uvlayout does a good job of it.
It seems made by shaders and a little of work on the textures, maybe just in photoshop rendered in keyshot or marmoset 2.
I always use zbrush for highpoly realistic texturing, I feel confortable with that but I know that a lot of people don't think it in the same way, however try out some programs, like zbrush,mari, mudbox, 3dcoat and find what suits you best.
