Hi People!

I want to ask you whats the best way to Texture a HighPoly Model?
When i see something like this:
https://yaron-levi.squarespace.com/tactical-m4-/

Or this:
https://yaron-levi.squarespace.com/heckler-koch-mp5-m203/

Then im asking myself how thats done?
Is it UV Mapped wihout TurboSmooth, and after the UV Map ist done, TurboSmooth is added?
Maybe Ptex?

Somebody an Idea? :)

Greetings
Gazu

well he didn't texture highpoly, he just applied different materials to different parts of it. Only the lowpoly there is actually textured.

Like passerby said, those just look like shaders.

But the workflow you mentioned should work. I use Maya but it's basically the same, just remember to smooth UVs as well or you might get stretching along the edges.

Mari is a good tool to actually texture it once UVs are done.

send him a email on his website. looks like procedural textures to me on the hp.
hp texturing/uving is quite possible up to a certain point. smoothing the uv's is very crucial because they are under a lot of stress when turbosmoothed.
headus uvlayout does a good job of it.

It seems made by shaders and a little of work on the textures, maybe just in photoshop rendered in keyshot or marmoset 2.
I always use zbrush for highpoly realistic texturing, I feel confortable with that but I know that a lot of people don't think it in the same way, however try out some programs, like zbrush, mari, mudbox, 3dcoat and find what suits you best.
