I am currently working on this "Gravity Gun" for my advanced modeling class.

Any suggestions or advice would be awesome.

Looks good, but the scratches are too uniform. If you can, mask them to be only near edges and corners.

I think this is a pretty sweet interesting model! i love what you have done to it.

But i look at your gun and there is no material definition. it looks like its made out of one solid gold or brass. No seems anywhere the bolts and screws seem to be for show and not actually how to gun was constructed also i agree with billymcguffin and also there seems to be no thought in how the scratches were apllied just a global effect. Really think about how damage be distributed on the model. Lastly in my opinion i think it would be cool if you could see like dmg and discoloration form operation of the weapon/tool so like little bits on the emitters at the end and maybe even a bit further back....and when it fires to the 3 little arms spin on the cylinder if so that may accrue some dmg just my 2 cents

here are some references from video game weapons notice the different materials used in the construction of the weapon and how you get a pretty decent idea of how the gun was made if it was real. I hope this helps out bubba keep it up i cant wait to see it finished!
