Working with large files

Maybe it's a complete noob question. But I am so here it goes.

So I made a scene in Zbrush and it looks ace. I want to take it into 3D Coat for texturing and then to Modo to set up nice lighting.

Unfortunately the whole scene with all subtools at maximum subdivision work out close to 20 million polys. I was wondering, how would I go about texturing it? Do I need to optimize it somehow before I take it 3D Coat, because at the moment it just can't handle it and crashes.

PS: It's a study for a Noah Bradley painting.
