I'm learning to use Mudbox 2011 and I have run into a situation while I'm painting the model in which the color I use to cover a particular area will spike in any direction and paint more than what I've wanted. Or I can't paint a small area for some strange reason. I do not have any areas covered with Freeze. It's as if the paint is following a vertex or polygon and stretches out to fill the area in. My mesh is sitting at 12 million+ polygons right now and I haven't the slightest clue.

The blue and purple areas, I had no issues with. This area in between and similar, have had all kinds of issues with this spiking. Does this have anything to do with the sculpting tools I used in this area? Or didn't use?

it has no effect in mudbox if you paint on a that dens mesh... mudbox internally only uses a 100k mesh to do the painting unless you incease the option in the prefs... its Face Count for Speed optimization in the paint prefs...
