Hello fellow Polycounters. I just started my senior year and now we have come to the class were we must make something that be on are portfolio and reel. Here is the concept that I'm working off of.



I don't plan on following the concept 100%. I mainly picked this to brush up on my hand painting skills. Here is what I have so far

Small update.

Just laying down some base color and lighting to get a feel for how it will turn out. Also changed my blockout slightly to make it more interesting. The snow is a place holder I just wanted to find out how I would light it once I start it.

Sugus

Consider blocking out the entire scene before even starting to texture/sculpt anything. Figure out stuff like proportions, basic lighting etc. Down the line this will help tremendously and save you tons of time.

Thanks Sugus. I won't start texturing till next term. I just need to have it 90% modeled with first pass texture. (first pass meaning you can identify what material it is.) I also plan to have my lighting down pat soon. I notice a lot of areas look flat.

Small update. Everyone said nighttime lighting. The stone and wood are just a render clouds I'm currently texturing those now. And after that I will redo the swirls on the top of the buildings

I dunno... I see this more of a vanilla ice cream village than a snow village :P but its coming along.

Cactus on Fire

I think it's a bit highpoly, and you should give more variation to the geometry. I would also tone down the ambient occlusion, it kinda eats the forms and gives it a dark, gloomy vibe.

Keep it up, it's going to look much nicer with full lighting.
