Just saw this thread and read through it. Pretty interesting one, so thought i would reply.

Here at 1p, one of the main goals of the studio is to be a positive influence and impact our community directly. So we do a lot of community outreach, we mentor, tutor, shadow students and people interested in game development. We give talks and our community service involves "Games in Education" which is a symposium of talks where we pay teachers and people involved in education and how they create learning environments using games. It's pretty exciting, it lasts like 3 days i think.

It happens every year, and the whole company is involved.

What else. Also, i think 1st Playable is the first company to be a B Corporation. More info here.

B Corp basically is: B Corps are certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

    So its positive impact.

Apart from that our main focus in research games and education makes for some interesting and learning environment.

But mainly for me, i just get involved in the community. From school mentoring to competitions. nothing more inspiring than motivating a kid into following your footsteps. I dunn have kids yet, but when i do, i'll prbly try to be a good model citizen for them to follow haha.
