Hi, I'm having a problem with Z-Brush.
So, a couple of times, I've accidentally pressed the "fill layer" button from the color dropdown instead of the "fill object" button.
When this happens, my document goes into the non-edit mode, and I have to make a new document and redraw my subobject.
Worse still, from that point onward, my model is no longer shaded, and acts as if it has a flat material applied no matter what I do.
Even Worse still, this no-shading issue persists no matter if I load a previous quicksave of the project.
The only way I've found to correct this is to restart Z-Brush and re-import a new version of the tool I was working on, so it seems like some sort of project/user preferences setting.
I'm not sure if I'm missing something fundamental here, as my efforts to search a solution on google have shown nothing, implying that I'm missing something so simple, nobody bothers to search for it.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

As for the issue of being flat, and I know changing the matcap doesn't even do anything, make sure that before you ever start doing any filling is have MRGB on or M on.
It's very strange. When this happens, I can load any model from the light box, and it still shows up as flat shaded. Also, there seems to be some z-fighting. If I have "colorize" on, then I can see the RGB polypaint, but if I turn off colorize, it goes to whatever color is selected in the color dropdown. Basically, it behaves as though there's a flat matcap selected, but if I try to clear the material with the "m" or "mrgb" selected, there's no apparent changes to the appearance. I've also checked the render settings to be sure that it's on "preview".
So, it makes me wonder if there's some other setting somewhere that can enforce "flat" unlit appearance on all subobjects which doesn't have to do with render settings or applied materials.
The work around isn't too bad, but I wish I could figure it out rather than just trying to avoid the problem. For all I know, it may be an actual bug.
Anyway, thanks again.
