So what the hell is this? It's a chart I made to help me better understand the relationship of colour and lighting. Originally, it was just a boring sphere but I decided to look for more references and the Luxo Ball turned out to be the perfect choice. From there, I went scavenging for every lighting condition of the Luxo Ball I could find and recorded all of its colour.

Now I'm sharing it for everyone to use. Go make every art look photoreal now!

I also want to create similar charts using photo references for other things (i.e skin, metal, water etc).

Cool. But wouldn't it be easier to make an albedo texture with the original flat colors of the ball and then just a gloss and metallic textures (for this pretty much numbers) that fit a plastic ball?

Well the purpose of this was to be as accurate as possible in where the colours were coming from and then apply or reference it in any medium (i.e such as painting). If the gloss or metallic textures can produce the same results without the need of a photo, that's also great.
