SO finally got round to starting a new environment, thought I'd have a go at creating the Arcadian building that's sometimes used in a few TV programs. I wanted to make it look derelict and abandoned. Started with the diner at the bottom and this is where I'm up to.
I need to add some more detail, like wooden boards for the windows, graffiti and general rubbish and dirt on the street. I'm going to continue upwards to the apartment building on top once the diner is looking how I want it to
Thanks foe the Feedback PixelMasher, I was trying to make it look like the curve was made from straight curb pieces, but looking at it now, i think you could be right, it's a bit angular. Cheers
I originally thought about doing that, but then I thought about giving it bones to make it move in the wind but I haven't got that far yet. Cheers for the feedback though
Looks like we got a regular Ted Mosby here! I would work on the textures some, right now the dirt and dust seems randomly overlayed on top of everything pretty evenly. If this is an old building, think about where dirt would really accumulate and where different staining from years of rainfall might start to be seen.
I echo the above comment though. It does appear as if you have added grime for the sake of it. Research into weathering on similar buildings and look into water runs like BasicallyNormal said.
I look forward to your progress. 'Tis a nice building choice
Also... I'm pretty sure you can sort it out so that alphas can sway in the wind and stuff...
Hahahaha BasicallyNormal, Love it, yeah I did see the building originally on How I Met Your Mother, but then found out it's actually used for a lot of different shows.....Anyways, thanks for the feedback, LANKUS MAXIMUS as well, I'll definitely go and look into that, I got to admit, texturing is my weakest skill. I'll hopefully have some updates soon.
KazeoHin, are you saying you want me to sculpt a lions head? lol
Been a while since I updated this, so though I better post something!
done quite a bit more since the last post, still needs a lot of work though, there's still a couple of gaps to fill in and desperately need some variation on the brick texture. Still got a few place hold textures that need to be changed as well.
