Mudbox 2011 Symmetry question

I have a mesh I want to build upon in Mudbox 2011 and many of the sides are identical. I've tried using Mirror tangent but it doesn't seem to cooperate. Always giving me an error. I may be using it wrong. I'm still new to the software so bare with me if the answer is an easy one. Ha ha! When it asks to select faces that cross the axis of symmetry, does it mean to select the faces on the top panel and the bottom panel? Or the faces that connect the two panels?

Or is there another way to do this entirely? I plan on making all sides identical, so any thoughts or ideas that'll help me speed up my work, I'd love to hear.

use zbrush is the fastest way... you have radial symmetry there...

in mudbox i would sculpt everything unique... or do only one side and mirror it in maya...

I've yet to try Zbrush again. I just learned to use Mudbox and want to focus on it first, get my bearings on digital sculpting. I planned on making this unique in some ways after building up what I have in my head. Make the panels a similar style then add unique details to each one to mix things up.
