Transformer Robot Project - WIP

hi, im going to have a go at creating a transforming vehicle into a robot, basically a transformer. Im not going to be aiming for the michael bay style with loads of intricate parts, but aiming more towards it being based off a transformers toy. I've made a start on blocking out a couple of ideas and blocking them out to try and work out how they would go from vehicle to robot.

The two ideas i've had are of a smart car or a crane, but i'm still not fully decided on whether i will do either of these. my main goal at the moment is to come up with a design that works well.

i think it looks pretty good!

the only 2 things id say is maybe add have the crane arm turn into a cannon and the nose of the smart car be the chest area but other than that im liking so far cant wait to see more

Quick Update,

So, I've decided to get the shell of the smart car modelled first, and then plan to go in and create the robot. I have been watching transformers prime cartoon series to help give some ideas how the robot should look, as well as buying a few transformers toys.

they actually had a smart car in fall of cybertron multiplayer , surely a good reference
looks promising so far, but the crane anim is a lot more transform-y than the smart one

ooo, thanks for the heads up. ill look at some fall of cybertron stuff. I know the animations for the smart car aren't great, i thought id try a different tactic, im getting the vehicle form modelled, then plan to go on and do the robot, then i can play around with the animations more. I've been playing with some transformers toys to see how they transform which has given me some ideas, but to test up i wanted to model some of the smaller pieces of the car like the wheel hubs. I plan to model the car, then chop it up into different pieces.

Looks nice, the renders are a bit dark or perhaps the interior of the body is just a bit too dark.

dude, take a look at some tutorials about automotive modeling before doing this ( http://www.digitaltutors.com/tutorial/3560-Automotive-Modeling-in-3ds-Max ) or on youtube there are plenty...your car mesh looks bad, hope you dont mind.
