Mudbox 2011 Knife Tool

I'm fairly new to Mudbox but with the help of Digital Tutors, I've picked up on it really fast. I'm currently having an issue with the Knife tool. Drawing a straight vertical line, it works great. Once I make a curve or go horizontal, that pattern stamps that vertical line instead of cuts with the Eye of Sauron stamp as I've heard it called. I've messed with the settings a bit and I'm lost as to how to fix this. The videos on DT, show that it works great, I'd love to use this tool but I'm not sure how to go about fixing this problem. The below image is an idea of what I get when working with it. My guess it's a simple click of a checkbox that I don't know about. Ha ha!
