I have a great idea! Mine is going to be a mini-MINI golf!
The course starts with things around you relative to player size and then the player ball goes through maybe a hole (down the rabbit hole? maybe a shrinking machine?)
And then suddenly, EVERYTHING IS REALLY BIG! Or...maybe it turns out that YOU ARE VERY SMALL! Think Honey I Shrunk the Kids or The Secret World of Arrietty, which will be pretty big inspirations for this project. It will be tricky to play with scale that way, but it's a challenge I am willing to undertake!

Don't forget the Pixar Toys movies for nice scale ideas. And busted plastic army men in the dirt!
Thanks! Those are great ideas!
I started doing some layout to get a feel of what I'm going to build with my proxy, and then start playing the course, see if it works properly.
Not many props yet, but I'm starting to plan out what to use to both optimize the limited texture usage and also others that could give more of a sense of scale!
What kind of par are you thinking about setting?
Cant wait to start getting a better sense of scale for this this one!
And I have been thinking about generating two courses, but I dunno if I have the time, which is why i decided to have one area that's normal sized and the next area exaggerated. I'm also looking a lot into Pikmin for scale reference.
Very happy to hear that you're gonna use Pikmin for scale reference!
Also, I just realized how great the little patches of plants and grass and also pieces of broken pottery in Pikmin 3 can really help me get that sense of scale I am looking for!
Here's the proxy of what my course will look like. Still don't know if it will be surrounded by either water or terrain. Tomorrow I'm working on bringing this into the engine and taking it for a test drive.
Thanks for all the great feedback!
