So...Not even sure if they allow for taunts on the workshop yet, but I got fed up with waiting for the animation requirements.

Here is a Taunt I'm working on for the Spring 2014 event. Using movements from Chinese Longsword (Miao Dao) 2nd form. Blocking is mostly done and timing needs work but figured I'd go ahead and grab some help from here. First time posting on this forum so...HEY EVERYONE!!

Working Title: Form of the Masked

And if anyone has info on how I need to export to test the animations in game that would be appreciated. I'm not sure if it is possible but assuming it would be in the "other" section when looking at the Dota 2 Workshop submission categories.

unedited, filled with banter and a semi-half exausted me who didn't sleep that night. But maybe it's got what your looking for.

Here's a simple breakdown, to get it working in game, just export the animation as an .smd, overwrite/edit your .qc to incorprate the new animation, recompile the hero, overwrite original files, load up dota, ???, success.

When I submit animations to the workshop, I normally include an .fbx, and more importantly, the .smd of the animation in a zip folder.

I've also been told there are a few issues they are working out with the current animation systems. So hopefully sometime in the near future we'll see it added.

Glad to see more animators! Cheers!

Would creating custom particles be similar? Because I've never seen anything here about making your own custom particles that will be completely ignored by valve.:poly121:

Ah, thanks for the help Andrew, that seems to be what I'm looking for. I still have a day or two before testing in game but always good to be prepared.

I still havent cracked it perfectly, and I remember prophet saying he was running into issues with Jugg as well, be prepared for a rocky import. Ive been attempting to perfect the animation import system, I have it working for a few heros now with no issues what so ever. Anything with cloth phys seems to complicate things.

Started first smoothing run(first half), also took out some blocked frames at the end, they just didn't feel right. Gonna hopefully continue and update again later. Let me know what ya'll think.

Alright, I'm still avoiding those last frames for some reason, but finished smoothing mostly. Just gotta fix those jitters, work on weight and polish. Going well I think but any critique would be extremely helpful.

Done, sorta. This is the final product. I was a bit too pressed for time but this is what I ended with and I'm mostly happy with it. let me know what you think I can improve and whatnot. I am going to continues making taunts so any feedback on how the taunt did or didn't fit with the game would also help a ton.

Also, tips on how to set up a scene for better presentation would be good. Never was good at lighting and rendering stuff. I've looked up tuts and all but still can't really get a hang for it.
