APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED
Thanks for all of your applications. We are now reviewing each of them and will let every applicant know whether they've been shortlisted or not within the next few days.
Hey guys,
I'm the Director of indie game development studio Brain and Nerd and Lead Developer on sci-fi 4X game Predestination. We've just developed a new 3D ship designer tool that lets players design ships by building on a base hull with various cosmetic parts. Now we're looking for 3D modelers to produce content for the designer.
More info can be found
on our successful Kickstarter for the project.
Job description:
Concept art of spaceship hulls, spaceship parts and/or space station modules will be supplied by our concept artists. The modeler will be required to create low-poly textured 3D models based on the concept art. Animation is not required, but the models will have to be game-ready and well textured.
Payment terms:
- Applicants must be available to start work immediately and complete tasks quickly.
- The project requires several sets of 3D models to be made. Successful applicants will be given one set to produce, and may be allowed to take further sets upon completion for the same price.
- Payment (to be negotiated with selected applicants) will be provided upon satisfactory completion of each set of 3D models after they've been tested with our 3D ship designer application. We're also happy to break this down into smaller payment milestones for each individual model or a few models at a time.
- Exact terms and payment amounts will be negotiated with accepted applicants and specified in a signed contract to ensure both sides live up to expectations.
- Work will be performed under a signed NDA. You will of course be permitted to use the final work in your portfolio and you will be credited in the game.
Requirements:
- You must have a portfolio with game-ready 3D models (~1000 polys or less). Your portfolio must contain spaceship models.
- You must be able to unwrap and texture your own models, and must provide your own seamless base material textures (metal etc) to work from.
- You must be able to bake ambient occlusion into textures. There are some great tutorials out there for doing this in 3DS Max, Maya and Blender.
- Must be able to export models as .X or .3ds (which we will then convert into .X ourselves). If this is a problem, please let us know and we'll test another file format for you if you can provide a sample model to test.
