I am making a small environment in Toolbag 2 and I am having an issue with the local reflections. At certain angles, reflected light sources appear as a dispersed kind of noise. It seems that the brighter the source, the worse the result.

Here is an example
(the screenshot is scaled down, it looks much worse in full res)

What is the cause behind this? Is it an artefact/display issue or is it simply a rendering limitation?

    Probably a limitation of the rendering technique. :[ It uses noise as a way to 'blur' the reflection; So the rougher a surface is, noise will be more apparent.

    You can try and render at double the resolution and see if that helps?

    This is a rendering limitation.

    You should be able to improve this by rendering your image extra large, and then sizing down, as well as maxing out the samples in the output settings.

    Try 3840x2160 and then sizing down to 1080p or 720p.

    Ah ha that does the trick nicely! I suppose I should have tried this first but for whatever reason I didn't think it would be such a vast improvement.

    Thanks Drew++ / EarthQuake

    Great engine too, vast improvement on the original Toolbag, especially regarding scene assembly/multiple meshes.
