You might get more feedback if you post several pics. How about some without his helmet and armor on as well? It's hard to give critiques if we don't have much to see.
This is a solid start! I'm thinking the next couple of steps are doing the armor detailing and wear and tear.
Assuming you're going for a handpainted style similar to the World of Warcraft, look into Tyson Muphy's World of Warcraft character armors for painting reference.
I don't know if it's because of the lighting or the AO, but some areas look "black" and dirty. If your baked AO is black, it could be better to separate it for each material ( skin, metal, etc ) and put a gradient map on it, so you will have a colored AO instead of a black one.
