Hi everybody, need your opinion on my WIP on a model, the body is almoust finished, and the brief skulp of an armour (its gonna be a test model for the udk, mainly for getting me to know how to do things in udk and so on). Here it is
Ribcage is too small, he wouldn't be able to breath even without the armor. You lack the muscles across the ribcage. The ribcage doesn't show as much on athletic people, it's actually the serratus and oblique muscles. Remember those names, knowing those muscle names, and all muscle names, actually helps you remember the visual placement of them. It may seem like you don't need to read up, but knowing the names of things really helps.
The waist is also too thin, it wouldn't support his weight. That or the thighs are too big. You only see thighs of that size on bodybuilders that aren't concerned with actually moving around athletically. Since you're making a soldier, he's going to be running from gunfire. Even the Gear of War characters that pelvises and waists that matched the other bulk.
The pectoral muscles are too high. In general, the average male's nipples are 2 heads down from the top of the head, which means the bottom of the pecs are below that. This stays true on body builder types, where their trapezius muscle just gets higher and starts to hide the neck silhouette.
