I'm curious about types of machinery references you Polycounters use or any suggestions to add to mine?

Also interested if you have any classic jargon or lingo associated that will help narrow down equipment or any go to sites/blogs you may like for this type of stuff!

Creating an industrial visual library for machinery in implementations of sci-fi concepts and so far my topic separations are:

Construction Vehicles
Aircraft
Spacecraft
Watercraft
Rockets
Screws
Gears
Power Tools
Generators
Circuitry

    Hey Maximum,

when i need to model technical stuff in general,i tend do a lot of research and reference gathering to nail the look of the target model,by looking at some real world development drawings/drafts/blueprints.(like everybody should do anyway)Now this might be strange to some people, but because i have a CAD background,i tend to look into sites like this for instance,to really understand the purpose of the model, why it was created like that etc etc..i find it really helps me create believable models.

(theres thousands similar sites on the net, this is just an example)

    just my 2 cents..

    +1

I've also done some CAD, mostly for new elevator installations. I also worked on elevators, electronics, electrical and related construction. I look at things with an eye for making it look like it works. You don't need to get every detail correct but it adds a lot to scenes when you see things like plumbing with the proper mechanical supports.

Individual company sites can be goldmines, like http://www.gelighting.com/LightingWeb/na/
