Hello fellow polycounters,

I decided to create a blog to push myself to create artwork at least weekly and maybe become a concept artist/designer, illustrator one day.
So let's begin, here's the first digital painting I have ever done, a color/light study of Gandalf in Dol-Guldur from the Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug movie:

I have a question for you regarding your paintings. Do you use photoshop? When you're doing studies like this one, are you color-picking, or trying to match color by eye?

Yes, I use photoshop and trying to match the color by eye, but it's still WIP and colors can change.

Alright, it's time to learn fundamentals by studdying anatomy and doing quick gesture drawings, so here are my first 1min (exept for the guy holding a katana) gesture drawings i have done (I can see that I have to practice ... a lot ^^)
