VFX Compositing Lead / Compositors @ Arc Productions
Arc Productions, a Canadian based CG animation and visual effects facility located in downtown Toronto is looking for a VFX Compositing Lead to join our team. With over 250 artists and technical directors and the most up to date resources available, we bring the vision to both major Hollywood studios and independent producers to life in a wide array of formats: theatrical features, television, DVDs, shorts and game cinematics.
JOB TITLE: VFXCompositing Lead
DEPARTMENT: Lighting/Compositing
REPORTS TO: Producer
POSITION OVERVIEW
The VFX Compositing Lead contributes to the VFX pipeline environment by overseeing the creative and technical aspects of the Compositing team, including continuity, efficient production techniques and high quality of work.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work with the CG Supervisor to design efficient workflows and build upon and enhance existing Compositing pipeline
· Assist CG Supervisor in the resolution of technical issues
· Troubleshoot and debug shot problems
· Escalate technical issues as required
· Collaborate with VFX Supervisor to achieve the aesthetic requirements of the film
· Monitor overall progress within Compositing department
· Collaborate with members of other departments as necessary to ensure proper completion of shots and to ensure a smooth production
· Promote success of team members through provision of general support and guidance
· Promote/maintain department morale, motivation and positive thinking
· Remain current and up-to-date in compositing techniques through industry research and training
· Perform additional duties as required
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
· 8+ years of Compositing experience for live action (prior Lead or Supervisory experience is required)
· Feature film experience required
· Working knowledge of Maya lighting techniques, Mental Ray, Mantra & Renderman an asset
· Advanced knowledge of Nuke and Fusion
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to recognize strengths and weaknesses of artists to establish Compositing teams
· Strong background in traditional art with an excellent sense of composition, light and colour theory
· Excellent understanding of VFX production styles and techniques
· General comprehension of live action production for film and/or television
· Thorough understanding of the VFX production pipeline as a whole with an understanding of adjacent department workflows as well as how the Lighting and Compositing Department interacts with the overall production process
· Superior creative and technical problem solving skills
· Ability to learn quickly and comprehend custom in-house production tools
· Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with others
· Demonstrated ability to work productively and willingness to take initiative in a team environment
· Ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and perform in a fast-paced environment
· High level of independence and reliability
· Ability to balance multiple priorities while retaining and encouraging a high level of enthusiasm and excellence within the team
