Hello,

I am still new at modeling so I don't fully understand it all yet. I have recently started a Kabar Knife. So far I have a majority of the high poly done. Also where the hand guard attaches to the grip there is a flat area. How would i go about to creating this shape?. Any help or critique would be nice.

The simplest way would be to create a plane at the appropriate position & orientation and use a Compound Object->Boolean (in Max). The quality of the cut can vary, but it's generally pretty reliable with a simple object like a plane.
