Small winter scene (handpainted)

Hi guys,
I decided to try myself at handpainting, so here is a small scene I want to make. What if orcs could make a snowman, I thought. So my idea is to make a creepy snowman on top of old tower. Here is a blockout of my scene.

But Avvi is right, I see no snow. Maybe make those cannon balls ice balls instead? They aren't reading very well as cannon balls and it might be more fun to have some hand painted ice balls! Just a suggestion though.

Thank you, guys! I'll work some more on these cannon balls. As for snow I plan to add it with vertex painting in UDK. Or perhaps I'll have to make second version of my assets it it doesn't work.

You could always go whole-hog and make the tower out of blocks of ice. While you could just use a normal opaque white block, you could also use a semi-transparent block, possibly with blue highlights.

I think large snow balls for the cannon balls could be cool? I prefer the ice version over the previous ones at least.

be careful of using black on that snowman. Even in shadows, snow is very reflective of light. Might want to go with a dark blue or something.

Maybe a bit Empty in some "round" corners. Fill it up with stuff and the whole scene will get more life

If you don't want to add more stuff, one thing you could consier doing is scaling down the size of the tower and rearranging the assets. Possibly take an FFD box to it and give it a bit more of an exaggerated shape. Help bring home the interest, give it a unique silhouette, and would reduce a feeling of emptiness without making new assets.

Super awesome textures! Not digging the snowman though, he looks pretty out of place maybe trying to have a base around him with the snow so it looks like he was built from the snow on the ground.
